Bristol Continues to Make National History

Did you know that Bristol's Fourth of July celebration is the longest annual Independence Day celebratory tradition in the U.S.? Talk about patriotism! Benny's is proud to be close to such a special tradition and event in our nation.

Rev. Dr. Henry Wright kicked off the oldest continuous celebration in our country on July 4, 1785 when he was chosen as the town's first patriotic speaker. Every year since, the Bristol celebration committee has chosen a Speaker of the Day to address the community that gathers on Independence Day. Throughout the years, the town has developed other patriotic traditions, such as the downtown Bristol parade, selection of a Chief Marshall for celebration, the arrival of a U.S. Navy Visiting Ship, the selection of a Miss and Little Miss Fourth of July from the community, and the presentation of the Hattie Brown community service award.

Bristol's superb parade attracts both local spectators and summer tourists with its patriotic presentation and impressive parade floats. Benny's is committed to helping parade viewers have the best experience possible by providing you and your family with all the items needed to stay comfortable this Independence Day.

Our Benny's Bristol location is conveniently located less than 2 miles from the parade starting point. Be sure to come in before the parade to pick up lawn chairs, sunblock, sunglasses, coolers, snacks, refreshments, hand-held American flags, and so much more.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
